Privacy Policy

Most of what ProIsrael holds is about organizations, not about visitors, and most of it was public before it was here. A listing is built from the organization's own website, YouTube channel or X account: its name, description, logo, links, the contact address it publishes, the country and languages it works in, and the videos, posts and articles it has published. Every listing says whether it was added by ProIsrael from public sources or submitted by the organization itself.

The rest comes from you, when you choose to give it: an email address to follow a page or receive the newsletter, an account when you sign in, a page you submit, or a message you send us.

If you only browse: the site records ordinary web traffic data — the pages requested, your IP address, browser and device type, and the page that referred you. The site may also record which pages, videos and outbound links are viewed or opened, and the searches made and which result was opened, so that we can see what the directory is used for. Some of this goes through Google Analytics; see section 6.

If you subscribe or follow a page: your email address, which pages you follow, and whether the emails we send are delivered, opened or bounce.

If you sign in: your name and email address from Google, or the email address you sign in with by link, plus the time you signed in. ProIsrael never sees or stores a password.

If you submit or claim a page: the links you give us, the details we read from them, the address you confirm with, and a record of how the page was verified (section 3). Claiming a page records that you accepted the Terms of Service and when.

If you write to us: what you send, and the address you send it from.

To hand a listing to its owner without anybody guessing, ProIsrael offers several ways to prove it. Each is used for that one check and nothing else.

• Email. A link is sent to the address the organization publishes, or to an address at its own domain.
• YouTube, through Google. You sign in with Google and allow ProIsrael to view your YouTube account. The site reads the list of channels that account owns once, compares it with the channel the listing links to, and discards the access token. It does not read your videos, subscriptions, history, comments or anything else, and it never posts or changes anything. You can withdraw that access at any time in your Google Account permissions.
• X. You sign in with X and the site reads which account you signed in as, compares it with the account the listing links to, and discards the token.
• A code on your website. You place a code we give you in a meta tag, a file or a DNS record, and the site reads it from your domain.

ProIsrael's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The site uses YouTube API Services; by using that feature you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

When a page is claimed, the address the organization itself publishes is told, with a one-tap way to undo it. That is how the real owner finds out if somebody else claimed their page.

• Running the directory: showing listings, videos, articles and search results, and keeping them current.
• Sending the emails you asked for — a newsletter, updates from pages you follow, the links that confirm an address or a claim — and the decisions ProIsrael makes about a page you submitted.
• Telling the right people when a page is submitted, claimed or changed, and keeping a record of who changed what so a mistake can be undone.
• Understanding how the site is used, in aggregate, so it can be improved.
• Keeping the site safe: telling people from bots, limiting abuse, and answering requests we are legally required to answer.

ProIsrael does not sell personal information and does not use it for advertising.

The listings are public; that is what a directory is. Your email address, sign-in details and the record of a claim are not shown on the site. Beyond that, information is shared only with the services that run the site on our behalf and are bound to use it only for that:

• Hosting and database providers, in the United States.
• An email delivery service, which sends the emails above and reports whether they arrived.
• Google, for sign-in, for Google Analytics, and for the YouTube check described in section 3; X, for the X check.
• Cloudflare, whose Turnstile check tells people from bots on the forms.
• YouTube and X, whose players and embedded posts load from their servers when you watch a video or read a post on the site.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of the people the site serves.

The site sets a session cookie when you sign in, and Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell returning visitors from new ones. Turnstile may set a cookie to remember that you passed its check. The site does not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser; signing in will not work without the session cookie.

• Listings stay as long as they are in the directory. A removed listing is deleted with its content.
• A follow or subscription lasts until you unsubscribe; every email carries a link to do so.
• An account lasts until you ask us to close it.
• The record of who changed what is kept for twelve months, then deleted.
• Sign-in and claim links expire on their own, most within a day and all within a fortnight.

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you or your organization, to correct it, or to delete it. If your organization is listed and you would rather it were not, say so and the page comes down. If something on a page is wrong, tell us what should change. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including the right to object to processing and to take your data elsewhere; ask and we will help.

Write to [Enable JavaScript to see email]. We answer from central Israel, usually within a few days.

The site runs over encrypted connections, stores no passwords, spends sign-in and claim links on first use, and keeps access tokens from Google and X only for the moment they are needed. No site can promise that nothing will ever go wrong; if something does and it affects you, we will tell you.

ProIsrael is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

When this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date at the top. A change that matters to people who have signed in or subscribed is also sent by email.
